A spending policy (also called a spending control in the API) is a reusable set of rules that controls where a card can be used:
merchant categories (MCC);
countries;
merchant names.
Spending policies help companies:
restrict transactions by MCC;
restrict payments by country;
allow or block specific merchants;
reuse the same restrictions across multiple cards.
Spending policies do not control spending amounts or card limits. Transaction and period limits are configured separately on cards. To learn how to configure limits, see: Card spending limits
Only one spending policy can be assigned to a card at the same time.
One spending policy can be used for multiple cards.
Spending policies can be:
created in Company → Spending policies;
assigned during card creation;
assigned from card details.

spending policy availability depends on your permissions;
in the API, spending policies may also be called spending controls.
